Rod Stevens is an Architect / Facility Information Manager for Pioneer Hi-Bred International, a DuPont company. Pioneer is an agricultural genetics company headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa occupying over 12 million square feet of facilities in 49 countries around the world. Rod provides design, code compliance, accessibility, facility information, and sustainability consulting for the company. Rod is a registered architect, has been a CFM (certified facility manager) since 1996, is a past member of the Board of Directors of the International Facility Management Association, a past member of the Board of Directors of AIA Iowa, is Past Chair of the Advisory Group of the AIA's Facility Management Professional Interest Area, was named an IFMA Fellow in 2002, and a LEED AP in 2006. He is also on the editorial advisory board for Buildings magazine. Rod was re-appointed to a two year term on the IFMA Board of Directors in 2009.
Lamy J. Chopin, Jr.
Mr. Chopin has been a beloved member of Labarre's advisory board from 2005 until his passing in 2017. He provided much needed insight into our business with his expertise on founding, growing, and managing a consulting firm, which encompasses managing employee and client relationships, marketing, business development, opening regional branch offices, and mergers and acquisitions. He was also a dear friend. Mr. Chopin had over 45 years of military and consulting civil engineering experience, and reached the rank of Colonel in the army. His area of expertise was river and waterways engineering and he served as an expert witness in both federal and state courts. Mr. Chopin co-founded C-K Associates, Inc., a regional environmental and engineering firm in 1981, serving as an executive officer and member of the board of directors from 1981-1998. Since selling his firm in 1998, Mr. Chopin focused on volunteer work in the community for several civic and charitable organizations. Mr. Chopin served as a past Board of Director for the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce and Safety & Occupational Health Council for the Louisiana Capital Area and North Louisiana regions.
George Thompson brings several unique perspectives to our advisor board. As a trainer for a well-known training organization, he helped a wide variety of companies develop leadership attributes in their key people for more than two decades. You may have read a book he co-authored, Split Second Choice- The Power of Attitude, or attended a workshop on the subject. His work in the financial services industry adds valuable insight for our management team on employee benefit program, compensation systems, investment planning and risk management. His many years of experience as a manager for a Fortune 100 firm in the areas of mechanical, electrical, and controls contracting gives him an ideal background from which to contribute to our success. Married to his wife, Kathy, for over 30 years, he is father to 3 children, and an avid fan of both Jujitsu and Taekwondo.
Ken Bordelon has over twenty years’ experience in the financial industry. He is also a Certified Chief Executive through the Credit Union Executive Society Program. Ken spent the last 15 years of his professional career as a C-level executive for E Federal Credit Union. Ken was responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementation of long term strategic goals resulting in the growth of a single sponsor organization with an asset base of $80 million to a community charter credit union with $250 million in assets and eight branches and an operations center. He also planned and implemented three mergers. Ken is a member and past president for the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Louisiana Credit Union League and a member and past treasurer for the Baton Rouge Credit Union Managers Association.
