Labarre Associates offers clients one source, one solution
Livingston Business and Real Estate Journal - April 2012
“Ask anyone what we do, and they’ll say we’re architects, which is true, but there’s much more to Labarre Associates. We’ve always tried to maintain a rather low profile, and we’ve succeeded almost too well,” laughed Jay Labarre. “So now we’re trying to let people know we’re here and that we’re not just architects.”
Labarre is the majority shareholder in Labarre Associates; his partners are Julie Brown and Roger Clark, and they have a staff of about 32 at all of their locations.

Livingston Library Prepares for Big Move
livingston parish news - april 8th
LIVINGSTON — The main branch of the parish’s library system...is scheduled to open May 1, but the grand opening is not until June 7. Library officials worked with Stephen Jackson of Cockfield Jackson architects to come up with the design, Tairov said.
“The challenge was to balance three variables: quality, size, and cost,” Tairov said. “Our wishes had to be translated into expenses. What we wanted initially would have required a 25,000 sq. ft. building.” The eventual compromise resulted in a 17,500 sq. ft. facility with space set aside for genealogy research, information technology training for children, a young adult reading area, and study rooms with table space for doing homework. The collaboration included Labarre Associates.
The new library will also have a large public meeting space, similar to the one at the Denham Springs branch.

Plans are revealed for new Livingston Parish courthouse
livingston business & real estate journal - march 2012
It’s been obvious for years that a new Livingston Parish courthouse was direly needed; the current one is a cobbled-together maze of hallways, with space for offices and courtrooms carved out here and there. With lax security and even less style, it’s expensive to heat and cool and much of the historic building is deteriorating.
The obstacle to building a new courthouse was a familiar one – that the parish lacked the funds for such a massive project. But then, about a year ago, Chief Judge Robert Morrison and Clerk of Court Tommy Sullivan proposed an increase in various filing fees to finance the construction.
Architects for the project, Grace & Hebert and Labarre Associates, began planning the layout of the new courthouse. The firm studied other courthouses and consulted with the various officials whose offices will occupy the building to get their input on what each required for their space.
